Assuming we're not going with the terorism take on our theme, I feel what we did in class today was really useful and much more relevant to our topic. As a reminder, I'm going to start logging what we've been doing in lessons so we can filter through when it comes to finalising our devised work.
Today we worked on an improvised scene about sex before marriage, exploring comedy and tragedy. Our comedic scenes included unmaritial sex (behind the screen) and the priests beating the accused. The tragedy scene (praying) I feel could have been a little bit longer so we don't lose the moment, I also think it would have been nice to include some singing, for instance Forgiven by Alanis Morisette: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xsHuwhm8Qs&feature=related Please have a listen, there's a really nice bit towards the end, the content's also pretty relevant seeing as it's about how women are viewed in Catholicism.
I've also made a playlist on Spotify which I mentioned on the FaceBook group and if anyone has any suggestions song-wise, let me know and I'll put it on there. So far the songs included are:
Every Sperm Is Sacred - Monty Python
Forgiven - Alanis Morissette
Vicar In A Tutu - The Smiths (potentially comical image..)
Angel - Robbie Williams
There Must Be An Angel - Annie Lennox
Also, we didn't have much in the way of notes today but the next post I do will be a glossary (seeing as Ms Bones gave us loads of long and annoyingly similar words to remember today)
Oooh, another scene I definately think we should include is the pub scene with Nigel and Roi seeing as it's pretty funny and kind of starts the religion off.. (we could also potentially conclude the play with the same archetypes in the pub talking about how creating a religion was a bad idea?) Please give me some feeback too guys :)
